Question 1

Return costs for orders?

Accepted Answer

Items must be returned within 14 days of delivery and be unused as received. Items must be re-packed to same standard. Machined or bespoke mouldings are non-returnable.

Orders that contain only samples cannot be refunded. The price paid covers packaging and delivery.

Note that delivery charges are not refundable. Occasionally returning outweighs the order value.

There is a standard collection charge for returns which is same as the original delivery charge. There is also a handling and restocking charge of £25 + VAT per pack. For large orders over £1,000 net you will be charged 20% on all goods returned to us for restocking.

Question 31

How to order more than the stock showing?

Accepted Answer

Ordering from stock ensures the fastest delivery times, but if you need more this can be catered for. Click the I need more button below the lengths in stock and enter the total meterage needed.

Note that because it is not from stock delivery will generally take 5 - 8 working days from your order.

If the I need more button is not showing for a timber type then you can only choose from the lengths listed. This is usually because that stock is on sale to clear.

Question 32

Haven't got lengths required in stock?

Accepted Answer

We machine once stock gets low. Please choose from the lengths currently available. To make longer lengths it is normal practice to scarf joint them.

Question 33

Are your stock levels accurate?

Accepted Answer

Our stock changes constantly and always shows up to date stock levels.

Question 34

Question 35

Why is a moulding I ordered before no longer available?

Accepted Answer

Because we stock a large amount of different profiles we have removed some mouldings that were less popular. So they are now unavailable.

Question 36

Why do you put grooves in back of mouldings?

Accepted Answer

Relief grooves are machined into the back of some larger mouldings, to reduces cupping and distortion. Also helps fitters to fix snug to the wall after glueing.

Question 37

Can I match a plinth block to an architrave?

Accepted Answer

When there is a matching plinth block available it will be listed in the description and shown in the images of the corresponding architrave page

Question 38

Would it be possible to make the skirting and architraves profiles in MDF?

Accepted Answer

We produce our mouldings in quality solid timber. MDF is designed mainly to be used as a flat panel, although other companies use these for mouldings. Once machined the profiled area ends up uneven and slightly furry, which would require more sanding and prep work to achieve a decent finish. This adds onto a labour cost to achieve the same finish as timber.

Have a look at our video regarding MDF VS Timber. Here’s a link: https://www.wrp-timber-mouldings.co.uk/about-wrp#videos

We achieve a high quality finish from timber and believe it's more cost-effective and long-lasting. We previously trialled running MDF and found it unsuccessful so we will continue to go down the route of solid timber.

Question 39

Do you supply continuous handrail?

Accepted Answer

We have a section for handrail profiles. We offer ramps up and down, straight run profiles, and monkey tail. See this page: https://www.wrp-timber-mouldings.co.uk/moulding-profiles/handrails

For more complex continuous handrailing you would need to search the Internet for a company that specialises in this area.

Question 40

How do combinations work?

Accepted Answer

A combination or compound moulding shows one idea for how you could use our products together. With compound mouldings you need to order the products individually. You can find them in the panel below.

This is just one suggested way to combine these products. We recommend that you download the attached PDF from the combination page to keep as a reference for fitting.

Question 41

What timber should I use externally?

Accepted Answer

Sapele, Euro Oak or Accoya are best suited for external use. We can also price to machine our mouldings in a hardwood such as American White Oak.

It is always advised that you treat the timber with a preservative application, prime it, then paint.

Accoya has become more popular for an external timber as it has been treated in a way that gives you more durability. The treatment stops movement, so after it has been painted we have found that there is no cracking or distortion so the lasting is superb. At an extra cost we believe it is fully worth investing in this timber.

You can find more about Accoya here https://www.wrp-timber-mouldings.co.uk/timber-types/accoya-6

Question 42

Do you use good quality timber?

Accepted Answer

We use prime quality timber in all cases. Timber may have variations in colour and there may be some defects as it is a natural product.
Mouldings come clean ready for your own finish. We would always suggest to give a light sanding prior to finishing.

Question 43

What timbers are your mouldings available in?

Accepted Answer

All of our available timbers are show on the main menu, or you can go to this page https://www.wrp-timber-mouldings.co.uk/timber-types

Accepted Answer

Question 45

Are your mouldings FSC or PEFC Certified?

Accepted Answer

While we don’t currently have FSC certification, we do prioritise sourcing our timber from reputable, family-run suppliers in the US.

Question 47

Accepted Answer

Question 48

Is tulip the same as poplar?

Accepted Answer

Yes tulip is the same as poplar. This is an extremely versatile tight grain hardwood; it is an ideal quality moulding timber. It stains or polishes very well.

Poplar can be used for a paint finish, as it is free from the grain found in softwood so less “rubbing down” is necessary to obtain a very smooth surface.

You can find all profiles available in tulip here: https://www.wrp-timber-mouldings.co.uk/timber-types/tulip-wood-for-interior

Can I order a sample of a single item?

Accepted Answer

Question 50

Can you send out samples?

Accepted Answer

Samples of most products can be ordered from each product page. They are generally sent in Tulip. There is a small charge for samples to cover packaging and carriage. Also if your order contains one or more products then you can add on samples for a small fee.

Delivery generally takes 2 - 5 working days.

Accepted Answer
